White Settlement for NAS JRB drill weekends

This page is for drilling reservists at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth. It covers three things: what full BAH does and does not mean for a drilling status, which gate is open when a drill weekend starts early, and how long each part of town takes to reach the Main Gate.

Full BAH as shown on the 2026 BAH page applies to active-duty members and full-time reservists (AGR/TAR). Drilling reservists on orders of fewer than 30 days generally receive the lower BAH-RC/T rate instead. This site does not show BAH-RC/T figures because none have been pulled from an official source.

Status first, dollars elsewhere

Many people assigned here are drilling reservists, not full-time active duty. For housing, the status matters before the address does: full BAH, the table on the BAH page, is for active-duty members and full-time reservists (AGR/TAR). A drilling reservist on orders of fewer than 30 days should not plan a housing budget around that table; the BAH-RC/T rate that generally applies instead is lower, and this site has not published it.

For a median-value payment estimate set against full BAH, see the River Oaks, Lake Worth, Benbrook, and Ridgmar pages.

Which gate is actually open

The Main Gate is staffed 24/7, and every drive time on this page is measured to it (1303 Pumphrey Dr, Fort Worth, TX 76114). The ID-check wait is not included.

The East Gate is the drill-weekend question. It is open weekdays and drill weekends, 0600-0800 and 1500-1700, and closed on holidays. A drill-weekend arrival between 0600 and 0800, or a departure between 1500 and 1700, can use it; at any other hour, plan on the Main Gate. No drive time to the East Gate was measured. The Commercial Vehicle Inspection gate is for commercial traffic only, with no personal vehicles.

Guests without base access should know that the Visitor Control Center, directly to the right of the Main Gate on Pumphrey Dr, is closed on weekends. After hours, temporary passes are issued at the Main Gate, and a pass requires a military ID, a driver's license, vehicle insurance, and the license plate number.

A privately run housing site lists different gate hours. The official Navy page is the authority; check it before the first drive in.

White Settlement pockets to the Main Gate

West-side pockets route around to the Main Gate via Spur 341 and TX 183. From the city center, Google Maps on a Monday 7:00 AM departure gives typically 8 to 14 minutes, 4.6 miles, via Alta Mere Dr. The pocket table below uses a different tool, OSRM (free-flow time with no traffic, and an estimated worst), so its city-center row follows a different route.

OSRM free-flow / estimated worst, White Settlement pockets
Pocket Free-flow / estimated worst Distance Route
City center 10 / 15 min 4.4 miles Meadowpark Dr to Gibbs Dr to S Cherry Ln to Downe Dr to Spur 341 to TX 183 to Pumphrey Dr

Subdivisions on the White Settlement roll include Meadow Park Addition, Sunview Addition, McDonnell Addition, Bass Addition, Altadena Heights, and Sunset Gardens Addition.

Westworth Village, as a drive

Westworth Village, in Tarrant County, sits right at the Main Gate. From the city center, OSRM gives 3 minutes free-flow and 4 minutes estimated worst, 0.8 miles, via Pumphrey Dr. From City Hall, Google Maps on a Monday 7:00 AM departure gives typically 4 minutes, 1.5 miles, via Westworth Blvd. The two start at different points, so they are not a range.

ZIP 76114 is 97.4% of city land and ZIP 76127 is 2.6%. The BAH ZIP for this section is 76114, and both map to TX356.

Drives: OSRM and Google Maps, both checked 2026-10-03. Land shares: Census ZCTA file, checked 2026-10-03. Housing area: DoD BAH 2026, checked 2026-10-03. Accounts and city code 032: TAD 2026 roll, checked 2026-10-03.

Who it suits

White Settlement fits a drilling reservist who wants a short drive to the Main Gate, with the East Gate's two windows as a drill-weekend option, and who will check which BAH rate applies to their orders before budgeting. On the north side of the city, plan for the longer drive. Westworth Village is the closest-in option, a few minutes from the gate.

It fits less well for someone who needs an allowance-versus-payment comparison; that is on the other neighborhood pages.
